Meralco zaps Alaska in the Governors’ Cup

The Meralco Bolts scored a 101-75 win over the Alaska Aces last night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, delivering the latter their fourth consecutive defeat in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
Baser Amer tallied with 27 points, including six triples, for Meralco; while Allen Durham fell short of a triple-double with 25 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists; and Raymond Almazan added 15 markers.
Trailing 22-20 after the first 12 minutes, Meralco opened the second period strong behind Nico Salva and Negrense power forward Reynel Hugnatan to take a 27-24 edge.
Durham and Amer then combined and extended the lead to 43-37 at the half.
Meralco continued their run in the third as inside shots from Durham and outside hits by Amer gave them a 67-51 lead. Alaska, however, countered with a rally and got to within 72-61.
Meralco went for the kill in the fourth period as baskets from Hugnatan and Ilonggo point guard Anjo Caram increased the lead to 81-61 before extended further to 101-71 on back-to-back baskets by Raymon Jamito./ASC, WDJ
