Philippines wins bronze

The Philippine national women’s volleyball team earned bronze over the weekend at the ASEAN Grand Prix after a 25-21, 22-25, 25-21, 15-25, 15-12 win over Vietnam at the Terminal 21 Korat in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
Mylene Paat finished the match with 22 points on 14 kills, four aces, and four kill blocks for the Philippines; Kalei Mau chipped in 16 markers; while Mary Joy Baron added 14; and Frances Molina scored 13.
In the final set, with the Vietnamese side closing in 13-12, Paat dove for a dig to cover Mau’s attack and forced their opponents to commit an error as Vietnam’s Than Thuy Tran touched the net while trying to avoid landing on the Filipina.
Vietnam called for a line crossing challenge but the national squad escaped with the point as the replay showed Paat’s feet did not cross the line as Tran was touching the net.
The Philippine squad next competes in the Southeast Asian Grand Prix, which runs from October 4 to 6 at the Sta. Rosa Gym in Laguna.

Mylene Paat finished the match with 22 points on 14 kills, four aces, and four kill blocks for the Philippines in their bronze medal-winning match against Vietnam over the weekend at the ASEAN Grand Prix in Thailand.
