Iloilo City is the new meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions destination in the country, which has been bolstered from improvements by property developer, the Megaworld Corporation.
The old airport property is now the biggest attraction for business and tourism.
According to Megaworld Senior Assistant Vice President Harold Geronimo, the region has become a “major direction” for the company. Among their projects include the Iloilo Business Park, situated where the old airport was located in the city’s Mandurriao district; Sta. Barbara Heights in Santa Barbara’s Barangay Inangayan; the upcoming Upper East and the Northill Gateway properties in Bacolod City; and Boracay Newcoast.
The Upper East, in particular, will surely be a big boost to economic and tourism development.
In addition, Megaworld is introducing the 19-story the International Corporate Plaza. The Iloilo City structure is set to be the region’s most state-of-the-art and facility-packed ‘green’ office development, which will also feature a skygarden on the tower’s rooftop that will provide a refreshing, tranquil view of the bustling cityscape as well as Guimaras.
“This will be the most modern and state-of-the-art office tower in the Western Visayas,” said Iloilo Business Park Sales and Marketing Vice President Jennifer Palmares-Fong. “Companies, including entrepreneurs, can own their office spaces and enjoy its generous facilities—never been seen before in any office building in the region.”
The Iloilo City government has also seen a tremendous surge in the local economy and Mayor Jerry P. Treñas places his trust in Megaworld. He has seen the city’s development and is using his imagination in envisioning the city over the next 10 years.
The city will soon become a strong contender as a conventions and business destination among the Visayas and Mindanao.
Most recently, Megaworld installed a transport hub, which is another tremendous asset for the city.
Iloilo City is currently home to over 3,000 hotel rooms and continues to grow.
Additionally, call centers also consider the Iloilo Business Park the “most appropriate location” due it its proximity to food establishments, lodging facilities, condominiums, convention facilities, among other amenities. The developments in Iloilo City are something to keep an eye on throughout the coming decade. (PR)
