Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday assured pork local to the province is clean and free of African swine fever. However, he acknowledged, when moving pigs from the province, they must still acquire the proper permits.
“All local government units now are vigilant and requiring permits for pork and processed products is understandable,” the governor added.
Lacson made the statement after a report revealed around 250 kilograms of pork from Kabankalan City was barred entry into Cebu after the trader failed to present required documentation.
Meanwhile, Lacson said he will ask about permits needed for backyard swine raising./DGB, WDJ
