In response to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron Aquino revealing several sources confirmed unscrupulous anti-narcotics agents across the country have either sold seized illegal drugs or used the substances as planted evidence, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) spokesperson, Police Lt. Colonel Ariel Pico, affirmed none of their officers are involved in such practices.
He stated, they do not tolerate such behavior and a recent internal cleansing already resulted in the suspension and dismissal of certain police officers.
The BCPO official also explained, after buy-bust operations, all confiscated illegal drugs are brought to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory in order to refer the confiscated items for testing. After the laboratory examination, only the documented results are given to the operatives and the items are left in the crime laboratory.
In a report, President Rodrigo Duterte slammed the alleged recycling of illegal drugs by some police officers during anti-narcotics operations. He noted, police officers who engage in the practice should be killed./DGB, WDJ
