Lacson says not using cellphones while working should be a ‘basic’
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) was recently compelled to issue an order prohibiting all government employees from using their mobile phones while attending to clientele. According to the order, issued by DILG Secretary Eduardo Año earlier this month, all local chief executives must ensure the order is being observed by all frontline workers.
In response to the order, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Lacson said it should be a “basic” that government employees not to use their phones while working with clientele. He went on to say the use of mobile phones while talking with another person is wrong.
Lacson added, mobile phone use should be limited to work-related issues, such as an employee making calls to verify information.
DILG reportedly issued the order after several instances where government employees were caught using their phones while on duty./DGB, WDJ
