One dead, three injured in Moises Padilla lightning strike

At least one person was killed yesterday morning, while three others were reportedly injured, after a lightning strike in Moises Padilla’s Barangay Odiong.
Authorities identified the fatality as 40-year-old Zaldy Marfil, while the three injured have yet to be named as of press time as they were immediately rushed to a hospital following the incident.
Based on an investigation carried out by local officials, the victims, all of whom are farmers, were heading to their fields when they were caught in a sudden downpour.
The group intended to return home but, as they were heading back, they were struck by lightning.
Based on a 6:00 a.m. weather bulletin issued by the Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, some parts of the province were expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms./DGB, WDJ
