The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) yesterday reported they seized a total P10 million worth of illegal drugs last month. According to data from BCPO, they conducted a total 49 buy-bust operations, resulting in the confiscation of nearly 695 grams of illegal drugs with a total value of P10,416,270.
BCPO said, during the 49 operations, they arrested 91 individuals. 54 of the drug offenders were classified as “pushers,” while 36 were considered “users.”
Meanwhile, one of the arrested was a minor.
The BCPO-City Drug Enforcement Unit topped the list in terms of value, seizing nearly P3.5 million worth of drugs. They were followed by Police Station 7 with P3.3 million and Police Station 2 with P1.850M.
The data also showed a total 152 cases were filed last month.
Earlier, BCPO confirmed drug personalities in the city may be stockpiling illegal drugs in preparation for the upcoming MassKara Festival.
BCPO spokesperson, Police Lt. Colonel Ariel Pico, said drugs are in demand particularly during festivities as some revelers use illegal drugs to stay awake.
He said the department has since stepped up monitoring in order to intercept any drugs being smuggled into the city’s entry points./DGB, WDJ
