Second tremor recorded later that day
A 3.7-magnitude earthquake was recorded north of Valderrama yesterday morning around 5:14 a.m. According to a Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) bulletin, despite reporting no damages as a result of the tremor, an Intensity IV was felt in the Antique town.
The Mercalli Intensity Scale defines an Intensity IV as a quake that is felt by many and may disrupt dishes, windows, doors, along with causing cars to rock.
An Intensity III, where few people feel the tremor, particularly those on the upper floors of buildings, was reported in Passi City, Iloilo; while an Intensity I was reported in Iloilo City, where the tremor almost went unnoticed.
The Phivolcs bulletin also reported no aftershocks.
However, by 12:38 p.m., a 3.1-magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of Laua-an, Antique.
A subsequent Phivolcs reported no damages or aftershocks as a result of the second tremor./WDJ
