The Bacolod City government recently announced the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) revealed the city made the shortlist for this year’s Seal of Good Local Governance award. The seal is an incentive program by the DILG that recognizes and rewards local government units for “excellent service and high standards of governance.”
A team of national validators arrived in the city last Thursday and were welcomed by Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
“I have seen how local governance has innovated and evolved through the years,” he said.
The team, which is comprised of DILG-Region VIII staff, Local Government Operations Officer V Reina Zinnia Bardillon and Local Government Operations Officer II Carlyn Nical, along with Local Government Operations Officer V Meryl Baraquia of DILG-Region VI, will conduct on-site visits, documentary review, and interviews as part of their process.
Earlier this week, the San Carlos City government was also evaluated for the seal.
