PHO: 20 deaths recorded in 2019
The Capiz Provincial Health Office recently released data that shows, between January 1 and August 10, they have recorded a total 4,930 dengue-related cases.
Additionally, according to a recent morbidity week, a weekly report documenting issues related to various diseases, the number of reported dengue fever cases per week has seen a decline, from 564 recorded between July 14 and 20 to 298 between August 4 and 10.
Meanwhile, they also noted the province has recorded 20 dengue-related deaths this year.
In response to the developments, provincial health officer, Dr. Samuel Delfin, said, “Prevention is always better than [a] cure.”
He went on to echo similar sentiment by his counterparts from other parts of the Western Visayas by encouraging clean-up activities.
Last June, Department of Health-Region VI infectious and emerging disease cluster head, Dr. Elvie Villalobos, reminded barangays across the region to practice the “4 O’clock habit” by cleaning their respective neighborhoods daily./PIA,WDJ
