The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) yesterday reported they are closely monitoring a new weather disturbance that recently entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Based on satellite data gathered by the weather bureau, the low pressure area was last spotted at 990 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar.
PAGASA noted, the weather system is expected to develop into a tropical depression within 48 hours and will be named “Ineng.”
They went on to forecast the trough of the low pressure area will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to some parts of the Visayas and is very likely to enhance the southwest monsoon, or “habagat.”
The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices have been advised to take precautionary measures and monitor for updates./DGB, WDJ
