The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod recently passed a resolution calling for Mayor Evelio Leonardia to form a technical working group to study the possibility of a public-private partnership (PPP) for proposed rehabilitation projects on city markets and Manokan Country.
The resolution, authored by City Councilor Carl Lopez, identified the concerned markets as Central Market; Burgos Public Market; Libertad Market; along with satellite markets in Barangays Villamonte, Estefania, and Sum-ag.
“There are aspects which can be better if run by public and private sector thus PPP concept is to be considered,” the policy noted.
Once formed, the technical working group will be comprised of representatives from the City Administrator’s Office, City Engineer’s Office, and the City Planning and Development Office.
Earlier this month, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said he is considering PPPs for local projects including the upgrading of the city slaughterhouse in the Jaro district’s Barangay Tacas and establishing a waste-to-energy facility./DGB, WDJ
