Ilonggo boxer Denver Cuello recently retained his Asia Boxing Federation bantamweight title after sealing a second round stoppage win over Detnarong Omkrathok of Thailand at the Barangay Vergara Covered Court in Mandaluyong City. The Cabatuan native earlier took the title after another second round stoppage win, that time over Indonesian boxer Jack Amisa
Cuello immediately set the pace in the opening round as he pummelled Omkrathok with combination hits before going for the kill in the second round by flooring his opponent with a straight.
“I am just glad to perform well,” he said. “This win shows that I still have it.”
“I am just thankful to those who trusted me that I can still make a comeback even if I am away for four years,” the Ilonggo boxer added.
The 32-year-old Cuello improved to a 38-5-6 win-loss-draw record, including 26 stoppage wins; while Omkrathok carries a 3-10-0 record, with one knockout win./ASC, WDJ
