The Iloilo City Population Office (CPO) recently hosted “Usapan,” a family development session, at various locations across the city. The sessions, which attracted 77 mothers, are intended to promote responsible parenthood.
“We do this in the city’s 180 barangays all throughout the year to generate acceptance of family planning methods,” explained City Population Program Officer III Rachel Lapascua. “So far, we have been successful in increasing our contraceptive prevalence rate.”
According to the CPO officer, the sessions, which are part of the agency’s responsible parenthood and family planning program, are important for parents to learn about proper parenting.
Meanwhile, CPO also offers a program for men, which promotes men’s responsibility in gender and development./WDJ
