At least P1.2 million worth of marijuana was confiscated last Sunday following a buy-bust operation in Don Salvador Benedicto.
Police identified the arrested suspect as 50-year-old Jonas Alvios, a resident of Purok Saging in the town’s Barangay Igmaya-an.
Don Salvador Benedicto town police chief, Police Captain Jerald Muya, said they made their move against Alvios after he sold one plastic bag of dried marijuana leaves to an undercover cop in exchange for P500.
When police searched the area where the bust was conducted, they recovered three white sacks containing dried marijuana leaves and 120 fully-grown marijuana plants.
Muya estimated the weight of the recovered substance at eight kilos, valued at P960,000; while the 120 plants were valued at P158,400.
Alvios faces illegal drugs charges and is detained at the Don Salvador Benedicto Municipal Police Station./DGB, WDJ
