Kabankalan City declares dengue outbreak

Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) head, Dr. Julius Drilon, recently called the number of admitted dengue patients “alarming.”
Based on latest hospital records, they have received a total of 800 dengue-related patients from January to July of this year, an increase of 100 percent.
Weekly monitoring by CLMMRH also revealed they have registered a total of 12 dengue-related deaths since January.
Earlier, Negros Occidental Provincial Health Office (PHO) head, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, reported the number of dengue cases in the province has climbed to 4,230.
While they also reported 27 dengue-related deaths, the fatality rate is still 10 percent lower compared to the 30 recorded last year.
Tumimbang also confirmed Murcia declared an outbreak.
Meanwhile, Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro Zayco also made the same declaration yesterday and ordered the release of P4 million for the purchase of necessary medicines./DGB, WDJ
