Mighty Sports-Philippines captured the 2019 William Jones Cup over the weekend with a 97-74 win over Chinese Taipei-Blue at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
Renaldo Balkman drained eight early points in the first quarter to finish with 21 points, while Eugene Phelps scored 17 points, Roosevelt Adams – 13, and McKenzie Moore – 10.
The Philippines immediately went to work with Balkman attacking the defense for a 10-point edge in the opening period. Their lead grew further in the second with Adams and Phelps contributing in offense.
Balkman continued to push in the third period as the Philippines widened the lead further, eventually reaching a peak at 83-57 on a windmill dunk by Phelps./ASC, WDJ
