Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) recently celebrated Pasidungog 2019, an appreciation event for institutional partners, which took place last week at the Ayala Capitol Central Mall. The event was attended by 423 guests representing academia, the business sector, civil society organizations, international partners, media, national government, among others.
“The way to becoming a university is indeed very challenging but I’m sure, with our collaborations, our partnerships, [and] our linkages, we can surpass the challenges and build a great educational institution for the youth of Negros,” said CHMSC President Renato Sorolla.
Last month, President Rodrigo Duterte signed legislation recognizing CHMSC as a state university.
In a statement by CHMSC Director for External Affairs Rhoderick Samonte, he acknowledged Bacolod lone district Rep. Greg Gasataya and former Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez, who co-authored the bill.
He also expressed his appreciation to Sorolla./WDJ
