Petron Blaze Spikers outside hitter Cherry Rondina came up with clutch hits in their come-from-behind 17-25, 21-25, 25-11, 25-17, 15-10 win over the Cignal HD Spikers last Thursday in the 2019 Philippine SuperLiga All-Filipino Conference at the San Juan Arena.
After missing their previous match against the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers, Rondina lit up the scoreboard with 23 kills, two blocks, and an ace off the bench; while Mary Remy Palma chipped in 12 points; and Negrense hitter Bernadeth Pons earned a double-double on 10 markers and 22 digs.
After splitting the first four sets, Petron, who was forced to climb back from two sets down, took a 13-9 lead late in the set with a kill by Frances Molina, Aiza Maizo Pontillas’ block on Mylene Paat, and Rondina delivering back-to-back hits to seal the win.
In the other game, the Foton Tornadoes Blue Energy tallied its third consecutive victory with a 25-21, 25-21, 25-15 sweep over the PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters./ASC, WDJ
