Roldan Aldea of Kabankalan City knocked out Russian opponent Mikhail Alexeev over the weekend at the RCC Boxing Academy in Ekaterinburg, Russia. The win was a first for the Negrense boxer among fights staged overseas, while it was the Russian fighter’s first loss.
Alexeev’s end came in the eighth round when he absorbed a full-power uppercut from Aldea, resulting in the Russian boxer landing face first on the canvas with the referee immediately halting the match.
During a post-match interview, Aldea said he did not expect to easily dominate after seeing clips of Alexeev’s previous matches.
“It [was] a very difficult fight,” he said. “Alexeev is a very difficult opponent; he’s very strong.”
“I did not expect such result,” the Negrense fighter added.
With the victory, Aldea improves to a 14-7-1 record, with eight stoppage wins; while Alexeev saw his record drop to 12-1-0, with four knockout victories./ASC, WDJ
