In response to cases of vandalism occurring across Iloilo City, the city government is calling on the local public to capture those responsible for such actions. City Hall is calling for individuals to take pictures and/or videos of people intentionally destroying landscapes and report the matter to authorities.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said he is planning to deploy certain personnel to areas to monitor the situation.
“We will deploy workers to watch over [the] Iloilo River Esplanade and plazas because there are many traces of vandals [at those locations],” the mayor said.
Last month, Bacolod City Police Office officer-in-charge, Police Colonel Henry Biñas, assured Mayor Evelio Leonardia they would secure the newly-inaugurated Bacolod Esplanade 24-hours-a-day in order to prevent cases of vandalism and other crimes.
Prior to structure’s inauguration, a cleaning operation was conducted after unidentified individuals vandalized the fixture located near the Bacolod City Government Center.
Leonardia called it a “wake up call,” while then-Bacolod City Councilor Caesar Distrito called for charges against the individuals involved in the incident./WDJ
