Tensions ran high at both the Bacolod North and South Terminals yesterday morning after guards attempted a takeover of the transit facilities. The parties involved were reportedly operating at the behest of Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI) President Roy Yanson and three of his siblings.
The company, which is the parent company of the Ceres Bus Liner, has recently made headlines after Yanson earlier ousted his brother, Leo Rey Yanson, as company president.
Members of the EY Security Agency attempted to enter the two terminals but were immediately stopped by guards working for family matriarch Olivia Yanson.
Personnel from the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) later arrived to de-escalate the situation.
The elder Yanson called the attempted takeover “illegal” as they were without a court order permitting such actions. In a subsequent interview, she said her children’s actions were “hurtful” and suggested they work within the confines of the law..
“What they have done is beyond the limit,” she added.
The family matriarch said they are currently looking into the possibility of taking legal action.
Meanwhile, operations at the two terminals remained normal throughout the day./DGB, WDJ
