Negrense boxer Joepher Montano failed to clinch the International Boxing Organization-Oceania/World Boxing Council-Asian Boxing Council continental welterweight belts during his recent fight against John Ruba of Indonesia at the Flobamora Sports Hall in Kupang, Indonesia, where he lost via split decision.
It was a tight battle between the two but Ruba emerged the victor after delivering enough combination hits to eke out the win.
With the defeat, the Bago City native dropped to a 10-5-2 win-loss-draw record, including nine stoppage wins; while Ruba carries a 19-6-1 record with 10 knockout wins.
Prior to the fight, Montano captured the Asia Boxing Federation light welterweight belt last April after a sixth round stoppage win over Rodel Wenceslao./ASC, WDJ
