Two minor 1.7-magnitude earthquakes were detected yesterday morning in the Western Visayas.
Nueva Valencia, Guimaras was struck just after 1:45 a.m.; while, less than 25 minutes later, another tremor was recorded at 2:09 a.m. in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
Subsequent Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletins reported no damages nor were there aftershocks expected.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected.
Last month, a 1.8-magnitude earthquake was recorded south of Nueva Valencia./WDJ
