President Rodrigo Duterte recently signed legislation recognizing Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) as a state university.
In a statement by CHMSC Director for External Affairs Rhoderick Samonte, he acknowledged Bacolod lone district Rep. Greg Gasataya and outgoing Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez, who co-authored the bill. He also expressed his appreciation to CHMSC President Renato Sorolla.
However, the CHMSC official went on to note, they are currently unable to make any formal announcements as they have yet to receive a copy of the law, along with written communication from the Commission on Higher Education.
“Once we have formally received them, we will call for a press conference and make our official announcement and address all the details,” Samonte added./DGB, WDJ
