Ko: Lacson-Ferrer tandem is ‘a team’
By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga

Negros Occidental Provincial Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko yesterday affirmed “there are no parties,” citing the merger between the two local political coalitions, the United Negros Alliance and Love Negros.
“We do not have a majority or a minority [on] the provincial board,” he noted.
The provincial official said Negros Occidental Governor-elect Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Governor-elect Jeffrey Ferrer will work together.
“The Lacson-Ferrer tandem will work as a team,” Ko stated.
Meanwhile, the provincial board member said he and Ferrer recently discussed committee chairmanships.
“It was an informal talk,” he explained. “No closure yet or determination of committee chairmanships.”
Provincial Board secretary, Atty. Maki Angela Ascalon, earlier indicated committee assignments will be done by July 2, when Ferrer presides over his first session.
Traditionally, committee chairmanships are discussed among board members but internal rules require an election. However, during the inaugural session, rules are suspended and the vice governor has the authority to directly designate assignments./DGB, WDJ
