Mark Tallo led the Bacolod Master Sardines in their recent 87-83 win over the Mindoro Tamaraws in the ongoing Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup at the San Andres Gym in Manila.
Despite a flat start, falling behind 12-2 early in the opening quarter, Bacolod went on a second period run behind Tallo and Jopher Custodio to tie the game up at 48-48 at halftime.
In the third, Bacolod pulled ahead to a 68-60 lead on outside hits by John Cauilan; however, Mindoro went on to take an 83-79 lead late in the fourth quarter. Battling cramps, Tallo came up with a layup to tie the score at 83-all before surging Bacolod ahead to 85-83 with another inside hit and eventually sealing the victory with an inside jumper.
Tallo finished with 31 points, four rebounds, six assists, and six steals; while Jopher Custodio added 12 points; and Louie Medalla scored 11.
