An 18-year-old man was killed over the weekend after getting caught in a meat grinder in Barangay Mansaya-Lapuz, located in Iloilo City’s La Paz district.
Police identified the fatality as Jomar Jungco, a resident of Lauan, Antique.
Based on statements provided by the victim’s co-workers to police, Junco was reaching for an object inside the machine while it was in operation when his hand was caught by the blades.
One of the victim’s co-worker scrambled to turn off the machine by pulling the plug, but it was too late and he was already pulled halfway inside.
The victim’s employer, Jasielor Jaleco, said Jungco was in his second week into the job and was assigned to pack the finished products.
He added, Junco was not trained to operate the machine.
Cops later determined there was no foul play in the incident./DGB, WDJ
