Aston Palicte of Bago City was unsuccessful in his World Boxing Organization world super flyweight bout earlier this week at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba City, Japan after losing via technical knockout to Japanese opponent Kazuto Ioka.
The Negrense boxer threw several punches early in the fight but his adversary managed to evade the attacks and countered to dominate the first four rounds. Aware of his scoreboard deficit, Palicte came on strong in the seventh round and delivered hard punches and combinations.
Palicte’s momentum continued in subsequent rounds until Ioka took advantage of a tired opponent in the 10th round with a flurry of punches and a combination, forcing referee Kenny Chevalier to end the fight.
The loss leaves the Negrense fighter with a 25-3-1 win-loss-draw record, including 21 stoppage wins; while Ioka sits on a 24-2-0 record, with 14 knockout victories./ASC, WDJ
