An eight-man NorthPort Batang Pier came back from a 25-point deficit to pull off a 107-105 overtime win over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters last night in the 2019 Honda PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
NorthPort was without Jonathan Grey, Juan Nicholas Elorde, and Lervin Flores due to injuries; along with losing Solomon Mercado, Jervy Cruz, and Kevin Ferrer to a recent trade.
Moala Tautuaa led the win with a career-high 34 points and 11 rebounds, Robert Bolick added 22 markers, Garvo Lanete scored 16, and Sean Anthony contributed 14.
While down by as much as 25 points in the second half, NorthPort mounted a huge comeback behind outside shooting from Tautuaa, Bolick, and Lanete, which tied things up at 100-all and forced the game into overtime.
NorthPort carried its momentum into the extension period and surged to a 107-102 edge on a layup by Bolick and a triple from Tautuaa. The Painters came to within 107-105 on a triple by Denzel Bowles before he missed a potential game-winning trey./ASC, WDJ
