Negros Occidental and Bacolod City have the privilege of acquiring new tour guides from a variety of sectors after they recently completed a tour guide course. What is most impressive is seeing the effort put in by my friend, Dr. Jennylind Cordero, in sharing her weekends to ensure these new tour guides succeed in their new profession.
I salute her and she deserves commendation for such a sacrifice.
Also, the Silay Food Festival recently took place, which offers the opportunity to taste delicacies and cuisines prepared by Silaynons. The culinary tourism event featured local dishes such as piaya, fresh lumpia, empanada, buko pie, and more.
Department of Tourism-Region VI director, Atty. Helen J. Catalbas, attended both events and inspired those in the tourism industry to “move on and create more opportunities on tourism promotions and marketing.”/WDJ
