The PetroGazz Angels continued their unbeaten streak in the ongoing 2019 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference despite dropping a set for the first time this conference during their 25-23, 25-11, 22-25, 25-20 victory over the BanKo Perlas Spikers last Wednesday at the San Juan Arena.
Wilma Salas led the win with 37 points; while Janisa Johnson added a triple-double on 24 points, 16 excellent digs, and 15 excellent receptions.
After easily winning the first two sets, PetroGazz struggled to secure a sweep after BanKo Perlas built a 15-5 edge before hanging on to take the set after the former narrowed the set to 24-22.
In the fourth set, PetroGazz broke a 13-all deadlock to take a 24-17 lead on back-to-back hits from Johnson. BanKo Perlas got to within 24-20 before surrendering the match with an error.
Meanwhile, defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers sealed a 25-19, 25-18, 25-23 win over the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders./ASC, WDJ
