A former police official was killed yesterday morning after he was shot by riding-in-tandem suspects along Bonifacio Extension in Silay City’s Barangay 4.
Police identified the fatality as Jose Lindy Chan, who previously led the Philippine National Police Maritime Group in Negros
Silay City police chief, Police Major Rollie Pondevilla, said, based on initial investigations, Chan, along with an individual identified as ‘Jake,’ were standing by the roadside when a motorcycle stopped in front of them.
The vehicle’s occupant then opened fire at Chan, hitting him several times.
Paramedics immediately rushed Chan to the Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, but he later succumbed to his wounds.
Police recovered several empty .45 caliber shells from the crime scene.
Pondevilla added, they are presently looking at business rivalry as the motive behind the murder./DGB, WDJ
