The newly-renovated Capitol Hostel, which is operated by the Negros Occidental provincial government, is expected to open next month. Outgoing Negros Occidental Provincial Board Member Salvador Escalante, Jr. said his committee yesterday discussed the rates of the government-run facility.
The hostel is comprised of dormitory-type rooms; along with deluxe, ordinary, and suite rooms. Following a public hearing, the approved rates came to P300 a day per person for dormitory rooms and between P2,100 to P3,700 for hotel rooms.
“The hostel has about [a] 150 total bed capacity,” he pointed out. “Based on the feasibility study, if there is 60 percent occupancy on our second year of operation we can already gain income.”
P150 million was invested in the renovation./DGB, WDJ
