The Motolite Power Builders scored a 25-16, 25-21, 25-18 sweep over the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference last Sunday at the San Juan Arena.
Channon Thompson led the win with a game-high 20 points on 14 spikes, four blocks, and two service aces; while Diana Carlos and Maristela Layug each added eight markers.
After easily winning the opening set, Motolite struggled in the second frame as BaliPure pulled ahead 19-13 before the former unloaded a 12-2 scoring run to turn things around.
Motolite then raced to a 22-15 lead in the third, an advantage they would not relinquish en route to capture its first win in the conference.
“We just wanted to end the first round on a really positive note,” said Motolite head coach Air Padda. “It’s been a really, really tough week for us.”
“To come out with a win to end the first round and to end this week, it’s a blessing,” the coach added.
Meanwhile, the PacificTown-Army Lady Troopers earned a five-set victory over the BanKo Perlas Spikers, winning 25-22, 23-25, 27-29, 25-20, 15-7./ASC, WDJ
