Outgoing Bacolod City Councilor Caesar Distrito is seeking charges against the individuals involved in vandalizing the Bacolod Esplanade, a fixture located near the Bacolod City Government Center.,
In a radio interview over the weekend, Distrito characterizes the suspects as “Kulang sa pansin (Lacking attention)” and claimed they had nothing else to do but inflict damage on a city project.
The city councilor said the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) should immediately investigate the incident, especially since the incident was reportedly posted to social media.
The esplanade, a P37.2 million Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) project similar to the Iloilo River Esplanade, is not yet completed and Distrito called on DPWH to take necessary action to prevent another similar incident from occurring.
The said project is expected to be turned over on June 18, during the city’s Charter Day observance.
Under City Ordinance No. 534, or the Anti-Vandalism Ordinance of 2011, a first offense carries a fine of P1,000, it increases to P3,000 for the second offense, while a third offense is a one to six months prison sentence with a fine of P5,000./DGB, WDJ
