The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Bacolod City announced plans to build a P10 million X band radar system. According to newly-appointed PCG-Bacolod station commander, Lt. Rockliff Buling, the system ensures the safety and security of vessels, especially during adverse weather conditions.
He added, the radar is capable of monitoring sea traffic up to 60 nautical miles away.
The system will be installed at the PCG substation at the Bredco Port.
PCG has long been planning to install a sea traffic control system in the city following several instances of collisions near local waters over the past few years./DGB, WDJ
