San Carlos City footballers named to the PHL squad

San Carlos City natives Shanden Vergara and Joshua Broce were both named to the Philippine national under-22 men’s football squad that set to compete in the 2019 Merlion Cup, which begins today at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore. The team opens the competition against the host team tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Also making the Philippine roster are Javier Gayoso, Dylan De Bruycker, Alexandre Arcilla, Michael Asong, Jose Miguel Clarino, Dean Ebarle, Pete Forrosuelo, Viejay Frigilliano, William Jay Grierson, Christian Lapaz, Jerome Marzan, Roland Saavedra, Lorenzo Sabado Jr., John Renz Saldivar, Ray Sanciangco, Jeremiah Borlongan, Dimitri Limbo, Kyle Magdato, Mariano Suba, Jr., and Kintaro Miyagi.
“This tournament is a perfect gauge for the team in their preparation for the 30th Southeast Asian Games,” said Philippine Football Federation general-secretary, Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “This will serve as a litmus test to understand how ready the team is.”
Competing alongside the Philippines and Singapore are Indonesia and Thailand.
