The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced a 10-hour power interruption will impact portions of Negros Occidental this Sunday, June 9.
The power outage is expected to run throughout the day, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and will affect Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) and Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (Noceco) consumers.
According to NGCP Communication Officer Michelle Vicera, maintenance activity will be conducted along the Bacolod-San Enrique 69 kilovolt (kV) line, which will affect Ceneco’s Sum-ag and Lag-asan substations, and Noceco’s Valladolid and San Enrique substations.
Last October, thunderstorms knocked out power across parts of Negros Occidental.
NGCP claimed the Bacolod-San Enrique 69kV line was tripped after structures toppled in Barangay Taloc, Bago City, causing power outages in the city, along with Valladolid, Pulupandan, and San Enrique.
The Bago City government later confirmed the said structures were the Hilangban Feeders 1 to 4, which fell due to high winds.
Meanwhile, Ceneco announced a separate scheduled power interruption will impact those connected to Murcia Feeder 2 this morning, from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m.
He advised consumers to ensure electrical switches are turned-off for safety reasons./DGB, WDJ
