The Bacolod City Islamic community marked the end of the Ramadan early yesterday morning as they celebrated Eid al-Fitr at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) grounds. According to Dhar Al-Dhikr Islamic Center Imam Omar Betita, Ramadan is a month-long observance of fasting and sacrifice for the Islamic faithful.
He expressed his appreciation for the national government recognizing the occasion as a holiday as it allowed for their children and grandchildren to join the celebration.
Following early morning worship services, members of the religious community proceeded to their respective mosques to break the fast.
Betita estimated around 5,000 Muslims participated in their worship service.
In response to the “goodwill message” from other religious denominations in the city, including the Catholic Church, Imam Abulkhaer Nadela Carcauga said he wishes to continue a good relationship and maintain peace and order in the country.
Carcauga added, he also wants to see Muslims and Christians continue spreading peace and love./DGB, WDJ
