At least one person was killed, while two others were seriously injured, after a dump truck collided with a tricycle early yesterday morning along Bagtic Road in Silay City’s Barangay Bagtic.
Police identified the fatality as 39-year-old Michael Quiatchon, a resident of Barangay E. Lopez in the said city. The injured, meanwhile, were 21-year-old Charisse Cobrado and 23-year-old Michael Andrade, both residents of Victorias City.
Deputy Silay City police chief, Police Captain Ramil Robles, said the truck, driven by 56-year-old Julito Duterte of Danao City, Cebu, was traveling northbound when he struck the tricycle, which was heading east towards Bacolod-Silay Airport.
Quiatchon, who was operating the motorcycle, was instantly killed after sustaining a head injury, while rescuers rushed his passengers to the hospital for treatment.
Duterte, meanwhile, surrendered to Silay City police after the incident.
Robles also noted, the area where the incident occurred was dark, which could have attributed to the collision./DGB, WDJ
