Shanden Vergara of San Carlos City recently revealed he will be leaving De La Salle University (DLSU), where he played on the men’s football team, and attending Snow College in the United States after earning a scholarship.
“The offer was made through Football for Humanity President Chris Thomas and his international partnerships with a top caliber recruitment organization called Sports Recruiting USA,” he told the Tiebreaker Times. “I see it as a stepping stone to bigger and greater things in the world of education and football.”
“The opportunity to play in Major League Soccer is not just a distant dream, but becoming more of a reality,” he added.
Snow College is currently ranked 10th among National Junior College Athletic Association Division 1 men’s football teams.
For DLSU head coach Alvin Ocampo, he expressed his full support for Vergara.
“Opportunities like this seldom come,” he said./ASC, WDJ
