Former judicial vicar for the Diocesan Tribunal of the Diocese of Bacolod, Monsignor Victorino Rivas, is set to be buried in Kabankalan City next week.
Information released by the diocese said Rivas’ remains will be at the San Antonio Abad Parish Church until Friday, with daily masses at 5:30 p.m.
Rivas was the church’s parish priest.
His remains will then be transported to the San Sebastian Cathedral on Friday night, before being transferred to the St. Pope John Paul II Center at the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Kabankalan City on Saturday morning.
The burial will take place next Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Angel’s Park.
Rivas served as the judicial vicar for 32 years, along with carrying the titles of vicar general and chancellor-secretary for the diocese.
He also served as rector of the Sacred Heart Seminary in Bacolod City.
Rivas had earlier been diagnosed with stage-4 lung cancer and suffered a stroke three weeks ago, which was followed by pneumonia.
He died while receiving treatment at the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital last Sunday evening./DGB, WDJ
