The Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) recently put out a press release informing the public of meter theft in Barangays Villamonte and Montevista.
The water utility firm said there have been “rampant cases” and urged the public to immediately report such incidents to Baciwa.
Baciwa says to look out for suspicious-looking individuals tinkering with water meters or service lines.
A case out of Brisbane, Australia earlier this year saw a man brought up on 174 stealing charges after pilfering water meters across the south side of the city. According to a report from the Brisbane Times, the suspect sold the meters for scrap metal./WDJ
