After Bacolod City Commission on Elections (Comelec) supervisor, Atty. Ann Janette Lamban, confirmed honoraria for teachers who served as election officials during last week’s midterm elections are expected within the month, the Negros chapter of the Association of Concerned Teachers (ACT) is demanding compensation “no later than May 25.”
ACT-Negros chair Gualberto Dajao cited the Election Service Reform Act, saying, “[The] releasing of honorarium should be made not later than 15 days after the election.”
According to Negros Occidental provincial elections supervisor, Atty. Tictac Villanueva, honoraria have already begun distribution as of May 14.
During an earlier interview, Lamban explained, teachers who served as Board of Election inspectors are eligible for P6,000, while members will receive P5,000.
Meanwhile, Department of Education supervisor officials will receive P4,000, while support staff get P2,000./DGB, WDJ
