Elections in Moises Padilla were peaceful –303IB

Philippine Army 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, Colonel Benedict Arevalo, described the situation in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental as “peaceful and manageable” after it was placed under control of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

“So far, [things are] peaceful and very manageable with the deployment of a sizeable number of soldiers and police,” the military official said.

He added, there have been no major incidents.

Arevalo also revealed, after receiving information suggesting the New People’s Army had planned to conduct atrocities in Negros Occidental, local troops have been alerted.

Meanwhile, Philippine National Police deputy administration chief, Police Lt. General Fernando Mendez, Jr., visited Moises Padilla to observe the conduct of elections in the town./DGB, WDJ
