Western Visayas falls to NCR
in girls’ volleyball finals

The Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) finished second in the 2019 Palarong Pambansa secondary girls’ volleyball finals after falling 22-25, 25-9, 23-25, 25-17, 15-6 to the National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) over the weekend at the Davao City–University of the Philippines Sports Complex.
WVRAA posed a threat to the defending champions after winning two of the first three sets behind Shane Carmona and Alyssa Bertolano; however, the NCRAA bounced back in the fourth behind Alyssa Solomon and Mhichaela Belen, forcing a fifth set.
The Western Visayas gained an early 3-1 edge in the final set before NCRAA leaned on Solomon to snatch a 9-3 lead. Subsequent errors by WVRAA allowed NCRAA to clinch the crown.
Meanwhile, WVRAA also earned silver in the secondary boys’ competition after losing to NCRAA in the finals.
