PNP chief asks police to refrain
from complaining about allowances
During a recent visit to Iloilo, Philippine National Police (PNP) Director-General Oscar Albayalde called on police officers in the Western Visayas to refrain from complaining about supposed allowances associated with service during the midterm elections, which are scheduled to take place on May 13.
“We are being paid by the government to protect the community,” he explained. “We are not being paid for [an] additional allowance.”
“If there is [an] additional allowance, it will be given,” the PNP chief added.
Meanwhile, Albayalde said he believes Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) is ready for the elections.
“Based on what was presented to us, PRO-6 is very much ready this coming election,” he said.
Meanwhile, he also discussed the situation in Moises Padilla, which was recently placed under Commission on Elections (Comelec) control.
“It doesn’t mean na magulo (It doesn’t mean there is unrest),” the PNP chief explained. “There are just presence of parang armed groups and communist terrorist group (There is just a presence of armed groups and communist terror groups).”
“Prepared na kami sa deployment ng mga tao namin (We are prepared to deploy our people),” he added. “We [also] have to strengthen and intensify our effort against loose firearms, private armed groups, and gun-for-hires.”/PNA, WDJ
