A 2.2-magnitude earthquake was recorded south of Kabankalan City early yesterday morning, just before 1:10 a.m.
According to a subsequent Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletin, no damage was reported in or around the Negros Occidental town as a result of the tremor.
There were also no aftershocks expected.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected.
Last week, major earthquakes struck Pampanga and Eastern Samar with the latter forcing evacuations in both Negros Occidental and Iloilo./WDJ
